Rochester City Parks
Nature has always played an important role in Rochester’s development as a city. Lying within the confluence of three distinct water courses (Paint Creek, Stony Creek, and Clinton River), Rochester has always enjoyed an abundance of natural resources. Many of those same resources can still be experienced in Rochester’s parks.  The Rochester Parks Department oversees and maintains seven parks that have been developed to service both the intensive and passive recreational needs of Rochester’s residents. Totaling 82 acres, these parcels range from the multi- use Municipal Park with its pond, tot lots, Kiwanis shelter and Lion’s shelter, and paved pathways to the quiet secluded passive surroundings of the Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve. In addition, the Parks Department maintains those portions of the Paint Creek Trail and Clinton River Trail that are within the City’s boundaries. Please note that a Dog Park Permit is required in each park in order to walk your dog.

The City of Rochester Hills Parks Division offers four seasons of fun and many diverse activities at its 14 park locations throughout the City of Rochester Hills. Our passive and active park sites encompass 900+ acres and attract over 600,000 visitors a year. Recreation is provided through the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority (RARA). We offer the only Velodrome in the state of Michigan. This 1/8th mile track is the fastest in the country.
