Residents in the Rochester community are afforded excellent educational opportunities for students from pre-Kindergarten through post-secondary education. The area is served by a top-rated public school system, a host of private schools and three top-rated institutions of higher learning.

Spanning a 66-mile district, the Rochester Community Schools provides public education within 13 elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools, along with the Alternative Center for Education (ACE) and adult and English as a Second Language programs. More than 14,500 students attend Rochester Community Schools, which boasts 95 percent of graduating students seeking enrollment in a number of colleges and universities.

Alternatives to public education can be found within the Rochester area through a handful of private schools including Montessori schools, kindergarten through 12th grade Christian schools and Catholic and Lutheran college preparatory institutions.

Higher education is also easily accessible for Rochester’s students, with three highly rated institutions located in Rochester and its neighboring communities. Oakland University, situated within Rochester, enrolls more than 17,700 students and offers 121 baccalaureate degree programs and 98 graduate degree and certificate programs. Rochester College is a four-year, private liberal arts college serving 1,000 students annually in 20 degree programs. And lastly, Oakland Community College enrolls 74,000 degree and non-degree students on its 170-acre campus in Auburn Hills. More than 100 two-year degree programs and over 45 one-year certificate programs are available to students.
