Healthcare Resources

crittenton hospital logo_new.jpgIntegral to a top-tier community is convenient, effective, affordable healthcare. The medical, health care and quality-of-life practitioners in the Rochester area have been on the forefront of human services for decades, and continue to provide award-winning service, technology and innovation.

Serving Oakland County since 1967, the 290-bed Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester boasts a support staff of over 1,600, and more than 600 physicians. An affiliation with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute allows the Crittenton community access to state-of-the-art cancer care, and an affiliation with the University of Michigan offers a top quality open-heart surgery program. Outstanding practice and service in general medicine and specialty departments include several Centers of Excellence: Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Women’s and Children’s Services. Crittenton also offers a comprehensive range of specialized services including sports medicine, executive/travel medicine, sleep and neurophysiology services, wound management and hyperbaric medicine, and heartburn center among others.

William Beaumont Hospital has grown from a single 238-bed hospital - opened in 1955 to serve a small community in Royal Oak, Michigan - into a two-hospital regional medical center. Beaumont currently has more than 2,400 private-practice physicians in more than 91 medical and surgical specialties. It includes two hospitals located in Royal Oak and Troy with seven community-based medical centers, a rehabilitation/health center, primary and specialty care clinics, four nursing care facilities, a research institute, home care and a hospice. Beaumont’s 1,061-bed hospital in Royal Oak is a major teaching and referral center and is the only Level I trauma center serving Oakland and Macomb counties. It is also Michigan's only Magnet hospital, the nation's highest recognition for nursing care. Beaumont’s 254-bed, acute-care facility in Troy is among the nation’s leading community hospitals. Beaumont, Royal Oak is included in 10 specialties and Beaumont, Troy in two specialties on U.S. News & World Report's 2006 "Best Hospitals" lists.

In addition, POH Medical Center, located in northern Oakland County, is one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States, with over 300 physicians and a support staff of 1,200 people. Founded in 1953, POH started when three physicians converted their neighborhood clinic into a fully functional hospital. By 1955 they had outgrown their facilities. They purchased and renovated the seven-story Pontiac Hotel, and over the years have continued to expand facilities and services. POH Medical Center operates eight satellite facilities throughout north Oakland County, offering services ranging from a blood bank to nuclear medicine and geriatric psychiatry
