The Rochester area believes in providing many options for a well-rounded education, anchored by two community school systems, numerous private schools and three colleges. Community growth has led to the construction of new schools and increased educational services throughout the area. The Rochester Community Schools serve a 66-mile district and provide public education to more than 14,500 students in thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools, as well as adult and ESL education. In addition to a comprehensive K-12 education, the district offers a preschool curriculum that is developmentally based and planned to coordinate with the Rochester Community Schools kindergarten program. The district’s Enrichment program offers dozens of opportunities for lifelong learning, including adult fitness, computer classes, arts, financial and legal classes, languages, dance, leisure learning and aquatics. A percentage of the area’s students attend Avondale Schools in Auburn Hills, a 3,800-student district drawing from four of the fastest growing municipalities in Oakland County: Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, Troy and Bloomfield Township. Avondale administers four elementary schools, one upper elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. Both Avondale Middle School and the Deerfield Elementary facility have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools.
